Golden Thread Collaborative: Money, Meaning & Mortality Services

Money, Meaning & Mortality Services

At Golden Thread Collaborative, we walk with you and your family through the profound — and often disorienting — experience of living with a life-limiting diagnosis. Our services provide financial clarity, logistical guidance, and emotional and existential support, helping you and your loved ones make intentional choices during one of life’s most pivotal seasons.

Money, Meaning & Mortality Services

What We Do

Integrated guidance for life-altering moments.

The offerings outlined here represent the full scope of support we are able to provide, not a checklist or a fixed sequence. Every client engagement is unique, shaped by your specific circumstances, personality, values, and time horizon. Most engagements draw on some of these services, not all of them, and the focus naturally shifts as needs evolve. We often move fluidly between practical financial matters, emotional and meaning-based support, and conversations about mortality, sometimes within a single session. This flexibility allows the work to meet you where you are, respond to what is most present, and ensure that nothing essential is rushed, overlooked, or addressed before you are ready.

What We Don’t Do

To set clear expectations and ensure you receive the right kind of support, it is helpful to name what falls outside our scope of practice.

Our role is not to replace your existing professionals or personal supports, but to help you think clearly, feel supported, and make aligned decisions during a time when clarity is often hardest to access.

Clear boundaries. Better support.

Manage or control money

  • Manage investments, trade securities, or build portfolios
  • Take custody of assets or act as a money manager
  • Provide written, long-term comprehensive financial plans

Sell or earn commissions

  • Sell insurance or financial products
  • Receive commissions, referral fees, or incentives for recommendations

Replace licensed professionals

  • Provide legal advice or draft legal documents
  • Provide tax advice, tax planning, or prepare tax returns
  • Offer psychotherapy, counseling, or clinical mental health treatment
  • Provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations

Act as a substitute caregiver or clinician

  • Sit vigil during the active dying process
  • Provide hands-on personal care or respite services for caregivers
  • Make medical decisions or act as a healthcare proxy

Take authority away from you

  • Tell you what to do
  • Make decisions on your behalf
  • Push timelines, conversations, or choices you are not ready for

If you need support that falls into any of the categories above, we’ll help you identify the right professional or resource so you’re not left guessing.
